Happy Holi 🔥 to everyone!!
There is no festival more vibrant, colourful and exhilarating than Holi, the exuberance of spring finding expression in clouds of gulal and showers of coloured water. Due to this Holi is a much-awaited festival of the year. We long for the day when we can play with colours. We smear our friends and loved ones with colours, and spray water on each other. They do the same to us in turn.
At the end of the day, we enjoy different delicacies together. These festivals bring us, our loved ones, our family and friends together. They offer us many memorable, lighter moments, when we are free from our regular anxieties and stresses, forgetting our designations and societal positions.
But many times it has been seen that many people forget their responsibilities, limits, and sometimes they don’t care about others feelings in this environment of joy. While playing Holi people do such acts which may hurt or physically harm someone.
So while playing with colours you should have some precautions, and many of them are written below:
Be gentle and little relaxed while applying gulal
Don’t use harmful chemicals as colours
Don’t tear clothes
Don’t try to colour any sensitive body partÂ
Don’t forcefully try to colour anyone
Don’t try to colour any animal (dogs, cats, cows)
Everyone wants to celebrate this festival actively. Yet later many of us suffer from skin problems, allergies, breakouts and irritations. To avoid these type of problems do consider following points:
Liberally coat your entire body with oil, rubbing it into fingernails and body folds. Olive oil is the best, even coconut oil will do. This prevents staining and forms a barrier to protect your skin from potential allergens. Oil your hair similarly, the colour will wash out more easily later and not leave your hair feeling like a bundle of rope.
Colours and sunlight combined may cause a ‘photo toxic’ reaction, so sunscreens are a must. Use waterproof sunscreen because liquid colours can wash off ordinary sunscreens.
Use water soluble colours, stay away from permanent colours. Also avoid metallic colours, like gold and silver. Mostly dry colours are safe, but avoid glittery ones, they contain silica particles that can abrade your skin.
Bathe and shampoo as soon as possible after you play Holi. Apply moisturiser immediately after your bath on damp skin.
For permanent colour stains, use a cotton ball soaked in acetone (nail polish remover) or kerosene and rub off. Wash immediately as these chemicals can remove colour but may harm your skin on prolonged contact.
